2% for the Planet – Doubling our pledge
Since 2021, we have proudly stood as members of the 1% for the Planet movement, a global network of businesses and organisations working together to support people and the planet we live on. This brave initiative builds powerful partnerships between businesses and charitable organisations, creating long-lasting, meaningful change. Not only has it connected us with some of the beautiful charities we currently support, but it has also allowed us to help others join their directory, enabling them to find partnerships with businesses that can provide vital funding.
Being part of this initiative has given us a deep sense of connection, commitment and purpose as a brand. Witnessing the impact of our donations has been a powerful reminder of the tangible difference we can make. This has inspired us to push our efforts even further. And so, in 2024, we took the bold step and doubled our giving to 2% of all revenue - supporting social and environmental initiatives committed to protecting people and the planet we call home.
Flexible Giving
When it comes to creating meaningful impact, 1% for the Planet has revolutionised how businesses can contribute to a more sustainable world. One of their most innovative approaches is the ‘flexible giving option,’ which allows up to 50% of contributions to go beyond monetary donations. This makes it more accessible for businesses to participate while broadening the scope of their impact.
This flexibility opens doors to activities like volunteering, in-kind donations, environmental investments, and promoting the movement through advertising. For example, companies can use their creative resources to launch awareness campaigns that inspire others to join the cause. Each contribution, in any form, helps drive the mission of protecting the planet while fostering engagement and connection.
Our impact in action
This year, we’ve proudly rolled up our sleeves and taken action. Starting in our own backyard, we volunteered with The Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust, a local charity dedicated to protecting our natural waterways. We’ve also invested in environmental solutions within our supply chains and launched awareness campaigns to inspire broader participation in sustainability efforts.
Further afield, our monetary donations have made a significant difference, too. We helped kick-start the development of the Kristina Health Centre in Northern Uganda, supporting its growth into a Level 4 medical centre. Through The Lotus Flower charity, we funded the ‘Swimming Sisters’ project, empowering marginalised women and girls from refugee and migrant backgrounds by teaching them essential swimming skills.
In partnership with Rainforest Concern, we funded the management of the Neblina Cloud Forest Reserve, one of the most biodiverse regions on the planet, and contributed to creating a new ecological corridor in South America. Alongside volunteering, we supported The Ouse and Adur Rivers Trust’s Citizen Science Hubs initiative, which engages local communities in protecting and restoring our local rivers.
A Call to Action
Our journey with 1% for the Planet has shown us that every contribution—whether financial, physical, or creative— holds the power to make a difference. It’s a reminder that thoughtful consistent actions, no matter how small, build the foundation for meaningful change. By sharing our story, we hope to inspire others to take that first step however simple, in supporting the planet and its people. Because together, we can amplify our impact, spark movements, and create a change that protects our world for generations to come.
